hi all,

see chart for USDJPY. Will look for down movement for wave C. 1st target placed at above 50% fibo and 2nd and 3rd target left it open with 50 pip trailing stop.

I have found an interesting oil and eur/usd count here:

Based on fundamentals i thougt eur/usd will go 1,58 or 1,585, and then down
1,55 (not based on elliot, i have no skills in this), but the above mentioned count seems logic to me, and a massiv usd weakniss would match with your usd/jpy count.

Question for anyone who can answer it.....EW is for individual moves of individual entities.....it was discovered through the stock market...where say, Microsoft competes with only microsoft and thus creates it's own waves....in currency, it is one country vs another, a blending of two entities...each entity having it's own EW apart from the other......how do you blend the two together...say the US is in a wave 4...but the EU is in a wave 3 how can you take a blended pair and create a single entity and how can you have a Grand Supercycle count since niether currency will ever go to 0........

For me that is .... EW of USD index and EW of EUR index... That show the currency behavior against some basket of other currencies. It is not possible to use some superposition of USD index and EUR index to drow EW for EU .... but it can help to prefer some variant if there are more then one.

is someone able to do an elliot wave count for the 10 years treasury note (^TNX), please ?

The 10 year treasury note has a good (anti)-correlation with eur/usd. This is visible, if you overlay ^TNX and eur/usd charts or compare the highs and the lows on daily charts.

Direction depend on the news -currently bad for EU, comunism like oil regulation possibly, usd index recovery, usdjpy has cracked daily downtrend.

wavecount for Eur/Usd.

Wave 5 will until purple color trend line. Once wave 5 ended there market will move in up direction if trend line is not broken.

I zoomed out as far as I could with the Yen index....movement since high appears to be a 4th wave....we are in C....to early to tell if we have bottomed......

I am short eur/pound since 7890....... 7550 is ultimate target...we will see........immediate target is 7840ish..it need to break to have more downside

Do you agree that we are just starting 3rd wave which is wave 5 from 2007 bottom.
Wave 4 has finished at 231.8 which is fibo 50% of wave 3

I dont know about everyone else but these last two weeks
have been tough on a wave count for me. But I think I have the
count down now. If I am right, I look for waves 1 and 2 to form
upwards between now and NFP. At which time, I hope it trigers
wave 3 up once the # comes out.

What confirmed the end of the 5th wave? could you please show me the 5 waves of the 5th wave? also...no chance of 5 extending? I'm only asking, why trade A? and risk getting run over by this move down? why not wait for the bottoming of B and get the impulse of C with firm projections of length.....just wondering out loud here......it comes down many times to style....trade alot, or trade like a laser at only certian super high probablity points......

But I disagree we are still in the wave A of the big correction til .92
wave c will be completed at .87 wave B limited to .945 this will be ema 100 daily.

I may be wrong here but I believe he is talking about the subwaves that will create this large move down...this initial burst will need to correct soon....I would look to trade the c wave of the correction and pile on with the sells as the correction would complete.....ESPECIALLY on the Kiwi...thats the one I want to be in on........

This mean that .87 will be excelent place to buy aussie pairs for carry trading
for many years till i see H&S pattern.

H&S are reversal patterns and found at the end of trends....H&S in an uptrend and inverse H&S in a downtrend...they are created by waves 3,4,5,A,B, and C breaks the neckline..........if these #'s are not you're wave count, you are not looking at a true H&S......the biggest fake out of most traders is the Irregular flat when 5 looks like the left shoulder and B looks like the head..........eventualy wave 1 looks like the right shoulder and people open trades on 2 only to get rolled by 3........

What is your purpose here? Just to see if people know what they are talking about and then make snide remarks? You joined FF to do what? Get help and share ideas? Like most people. You want help with something but are not willing to share your knowledge. Sounds like a pretty selfish attitude if that is indeed what you are doing. I am trading a breakout method and doing pretty good with it. I came across this thread, I know nothing about EW and would love to learn, to supliment what I am doing. So if you are just going to comment on everybodies lack of knowledge and not be willing to share yours, keep silent. Otherwise share. FF is all about a group of traders getting together to become better traders.

How far an abc correction can run? Only God know.

But wave c will be longer the wave a and b.

However this pair will go below 192, because we already in wave 5 down.

I have no idea re EW, but just wanted to hear your thoughts on the following I have taken from the alpari website...It seems crazy to me, especially at this point in time.

Obviously a lot can happen in a short time in Forex, but going by this chart the author is calling for an immediate trend reversal and major new highs..

We can expert bearish movement for this week, soon wave 5 will end and will retrace into abc waves. But still wave 5 end is not confirmed.

how do you guys decide what kind of waves these are? seems like there are endless possibilities? all i am capable of understanding are the 12345 impulsive and 123 corrective. Those bat and butterfly patterns elude me.

closed short for 72+ pips
and went long from 7050 as plan says.
target at least double top target could extend to 7270

TP hit booked +46 and went long at .7095 TP around .7250-0.73

Gold is definately in wave C...the blue count shows a possibility,..but the red count is the alternative which seem to be more convincing...so maybe we should see lower levels in gold in the coming days which would complete wave 5 of wave C...currently we are in wave 4 of wave C

Once wave 4 ended, i believe it probably go more lower..but wave 4 ending is not yet confirmed..

I doubt that's a Wave 3 you have on your chart. If you try to subdivide W3 you'll see that it's w4 overlaps into w1 teritory. The whole move down looks like a corrective move to me. And the bull move that started in March is also corrective.

Sure, the move down I have it as . I didn't bother to subdivide as it is past now... But it is clearly a complex corrective move, 7 overlapping waves down.

The move up, , again overlapping so corrective, as expected after all. I think there still is steam to the upside before completing the wave but we are near the end of the correction in both time and price. If the current top is not the final top then I look for 113.3 - a big confluence here.
In terms of time I have August 26 or September 14 as the end of wave. These dates are not final meaning that the wave can finish whenever it wants but if the pattern of the wave, price and time coincide then the chance of a reversal is very very high.

That's what I am expecting too! The break of the H4 trendline would confirm the beginning of the wave down imo.

Why do u think that eur/chf goin to drop from this level ?

Becuase from my point of view price is very bullish at 3H and daily chart.
Momentum and stochastic is positive and we have 10 bullish candles in a row(3H). and 3 in row at daily.
Price gonna accelerate more b4 major drop IMO.

There was a debate on another EW forum regarding this, I'll stick to my count for now the main reason is because the last rally on Daily was corrective in nature (see chart) meaning that it wasn't an impulse therefore lower prices are a high probability.
On the other hand the main count on Daily is bullish impulsive imo, but as I said I expect more correction/consolidation before going up again. I could be proved wrong, no problem I'll re-count my waves then.

This is the roadmap, trading is a completely diffrent issue, that's why you'll see many EW analysis chaning minds very often in the same time they are not trading but trying to "feel" the waves until they have a setup to position on the most probable scenario.

I was (and still am) confused by the count in this snag http://www.forexfactory.com/attachme...6&d=1219590778 not your 30-ish year count. Your blue 1....5 isn't an impulse but is noted like that and since we're in an EW thread I questioned if that is really a count or something not EW related.

USDJPY, a bit of zoom in on H1. It looks like an expanding triangle although it could be a flat too and go down to ~109.50 before doing another high. If it does the high tomorrow (26 August) then expect a strong top.

EUR/USD appears to have favored the downside completion of wave (V). A top may be in on w.(IV) at 1.4907, and w.1 down did turn higher last night at 1.4695 as predicted for 100 pip move up to put in w.2 top. Today brought a nice impulsive w.i of 3 down that completed at 1.4670 with a clear 5 wave movement, to help see the trend looks down.

I am watching for an entry with the trend, short @ 1.4720-25 range where the previous wave iv was and .382 fibo. Catching wave 3-5 down is the goal.

With German IFO coming out in 10 minutes, that should be the time to be ready, just from a risk point of view. It is close now....

Yes it failed indeed, and this just shows how hard is to spot beforehand the form and the length of a correction...
As of now from my point of view we have again a short setup here. We are at a confluence of 38% and a=c. The question is how do we know the correction is done and dont get stopped again? We don't http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/big_grin.gif, but every time we can enter either aggresive or conservative.
In the attached chart the aggresive entry would be at the break of the thin green line (marked 1)). The break of that line tells us that indeed the S/R that we found turned the price around and the large move that we anticipate might follow. However at this point we don't know if it is an impulse move down or just a small bounce or even another correction.
The safest entry is at the break of the green dotted line (marked 2)). It means that we have for a bottom to be in place and we enter on the break of the bottom. Again we don't know that the move will unfold in 5 waves (we never know) but looking at the pattern of the trend the chances are high. In the worst case scenario we'll get a 3 wave move if we're stopped out it would be for a small loss, or be.
Oh there is a 3rd kind of entry, the mindless entry http://www.forexfactory.com/images/smilies/yim/tongue.gifwhen one enters because he thinks price would turn around without any kind of confirmation from price itself. It looks like for some people it works though. Not for me.

P.S. Price could still go a bit higher, next S/R being at 1.0572 where again we have a confluence.
